★ The roadmap
From rented to owned.
Five phases. Every one ends with something you own, and every one has an off-ramp. You move to the next phase when your board is ready, never because a contract says so.
Phase 0
Map
Find out where your data lives, what you pay, and what you rent.
- What you keep
- Everything. Nothing is installed.
- What changes
- You get a written map: every system that holds student data, what each one costs per student, where the data physically sits, what your safety tools see and where that footage goes.
- What it costs
- Fixed price. You keep the map whether or not you go further.
- Who does the work
- The studio.
- How you leave
- Walk away with the map. It's yours.
Phase 1
Augment
Run beside what you have. Switch nothing off.
- What you keep
- Your SIS, your LMS, your cameras, your vendors.
- What changes
- Dimensional SIS reads exports from your current SIS. Teachers start designing with the Omega Harness. School Safety pilots in one building alongside your cameras.
- What it costs
- Fixed price per pilot. Open-source software, so no license fees.
- Who does the work
- The studio, plus Cognitum's team behind every School Safety deployment.
- How you leave
- Stop the pilot. Your current systems never changed.
Phase 2
Own
A box in the building. Local models. Your rules.
- What you keep
- Any vendor you still want, under a new rule about what may leave.
- What changes
- One quiet machine per school runs the record, local AI models and the safety sensing. Identifiable student information stays on district hardware. Outside AI only by explicit, logged exception.
- What it costs
- Hardware you own, plus a part-time operator. We price it with you, in public.
- Who does the work
- The studio and partner teams: hardware installation, security review, a county or college operator.
- How you leave
- The hardware and the software are yours. Keep running them without us.
Phase 3
Replace, when ready
Move the system of record when your board says so.
- What you keep
- Whatever is still earning its keep.
- What changes
- Dimensional SIS becomes the system of record. Camera coverage can shrink where sensing has proven itself, if the board chooses. A renewal date stops being a deadline.
- What it costs
- Set by scope. Usually less than one year of the license it replaces.
- Who does the work
- The studio, with your IT team owning the cutover.
- How you leave
- Your data is in open formats with signed exports. You can always move it.
Phase 4
Share
One civic hub with the city and the college.
- What you keep
- Each agency's own data, walled off from the others.
- What changes
- City hall or the community college hosts larger shared models. Schools by day, the college at night, city services always. Governed in public meetings.
- What it costs
- Split three ways. Roughly $9 to $14 per student per year for the AI layer in our medium sized district model.
- Who does the work
- A joint agreement between city, district and college, with the studio as architect.
- How you leave
- Each agency keeps its own school boxes and records.
Who does the workA studio, and the teams it stands behind.
The studio
Architecture, Dimensional SIS, the Omega Harness, Omega School, training, and the roadmap itself. I own the plan and answer for it.
Partner teams
Cognitum provides backend support and guidance on every School Safety deployment. Hardware installers, independent security reviewers, and a county office or community college operator join when the work calls for them. I subcontract them, and I stand behind their work.
Every phase leaves your team able to run what we built. Documentation is a deliverable, written for people and for the AI agents your IT team already uses.
